The flavor in this chocolate comes from a delicate balance of honey and orange blended into caramel that contrasts well against the dark chocolate coatring. The orange is an oil and so the flavor is both strong, yet sublime. Honey is a tricky flavor to combine; for all its subtlety it is pretty dominant in caramels and other delicate fillings, so its use here is extraordinary. The caramel has a faintly burnt taste; its texture is not quite smooth--a bit disconcerting to the palette which expects creamy smooth since it's made without nuts, etc. I suppose orange might also be grated into the caramel and might explain the somewhat granular nature of the filling. The dark chocolate is fantastic. It is a thin pour over the caramel, just enough to allow it to complement without taking over the caramel-orange filling, a potent dark chocolate cover that is not bitter against a caramel filling of gorgeous orange and honey. This chocolate is exquisite. It is surprising; it is delightful. Eat it with friends and a lovely liquor, espresso or even orange juice. Cut the caramels into quarters to serve, but be prepared to eat them all. The packaging is a terrible disappointment. My chocolates arrived with packages that had broken open and fallen out of the box. The packaging itself is too small, too close and too cheap. This chocolate deserves a platter. Redesign the box, spread the chocolates apart, and offer a 12-pack. Buy 2 boxes; one to share, and one to slip into a secret place for your own enjoyment. This chocolate is that good.
