From the Oko Caribe association in the Dominican Republic to our bean-to-bar factory in Almonte, this award-winning chocolate tells a story of terroir, craftsmanship, and ethical partnership. We work directly with farmers to source premium Hispaniola cacao beans, then roast, refine, and temper them in small batches to preserve their distinctive fruit-forward character.

The organic cocoa beans for this bar were grown by farmers in the lush central highlands of the Dominican Republic. Quality-obsessed and committed to sustainable farming, they produce some of the best beans in the world, earning more than fair trade income. The Academy of Chocolate recognized this bar as the best in competition, awarding it the 2016 Golden Bean.

Love this bar. Just what chocolate should be. Well made, well grown and well paid.
We prefer the 85% Hispaniola to the 70%. When we passed our order, the 85% was not available. >Is it available now ?

This bar is exquisite. Every bite must be savoured. It is my favourite chocolate by far.
Originally, I was a milk chocolate fan, and did not appreciate dark chocolate all that much; until I tried the single-origin stuff from Hummingbird. Although I still enjoy a good milk chocolate (such as their Dark Milk), I am now passionate about all three of their dark chocolate flavours: Hispaniola, Zorzal, and Tumaco. Consequently, I am not at all surprised that Hispaniola had received the "Golden Bean" award.
